Where are
we going?

Welcome Parents!!!
If you're here, its probably because your child has come home excited about a program called Art Life!

To answer you're first question... You're child is NOT dillusional, there really is a program called Art Life and we are very excited to have you here finding out more.

Art Life is a NEW program being offered through the Nightlife Center in Sarasota. As we speak, Art Life Director Jeffery Frayer is expanding a new curriculum which offers Professional Photography, Graphic Art and AutoCAD design classes. We are also doing a bit of fundraising to bring in more professional equipment for students to work with in class.

Your student will have the opportunity to learn using Professional Equipment and participate in projects that are brought to us from all around the Florida. Our weekly courses are a "work at your own pace" style of teaching where they will be given a short lesson, an assignment to do right then, and an evaluation on how they did. Once a month we will host a special class ranging from 2 to 6 hours with our art director and a professional from the field.

Please feel free to give us a call to find out mroe about this program. Our contact info is at the bottom of this page.

Art Life is geared toward giving students the skills they need to pursue Commercial Photography or Art, whether in preparation for trade school or beginning work in the field.

We are NOT a standard art class. We are working with Professional Equipment, and working on State-of-the-Art software while doing real projects that will help build your child's portfolio which is what they will need to get further into this industry.

FAQ:

How much does this cost?
This program is free to all Nightlife Students

Does my student need to own a camera?
No. We are providing cameras, lenses and all gear required for the class. It is only used in class though and we have a limited supply, so in order for them to really learn and explore on thier own, it is recommended that they get a camera at some time.

What camera should my student buy?
Depends on your budget. We are using
Canon cameras in our class. We do suggest Canon to be the brand you buy, but Nikon also makes top quality cameras.

Our suggestion for
Canon is based on the fact that your student will have access to additional lenses that will enhance thier photography skills tremendously. These lenses will be available for students to use on thier own cameras. They will NOT fit Nikon cameras.

We will NOT be bias about camera brands. If your student has a Nikon, Fuji, or Sony that they love, then we say bring it on! Not a problem. They all make great cameras.

Reccomendation:
Most of the
Canon DSLR Rebel series will do. If you would like to go with a professional camera, We suggest the Canon 50d or a Canon 7d which is what we are using in the classes. If you would like a consultation, we are more than happy to provide that for you, just give us a call.

Where are classes held?

Classes are mainly held at the Nightlife Center. There are some opportunities for students to do a class :On Location". Permission slips for each on location class will be provided as well as all of the information you will need.

What software will my student learn to use?
Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, AutoCAD, PowerPoint, Publisher, Bridge, and much much more.
